Coffee with a Mission

Our Mission

Metal Drum Coffee was founded with a purpose that goes beyond building a coffee business. It began with the opportunity to visit highland communities in Northern Thailand, where we witnessed both the beauty of their way of life and the challenges they face.

There, we met many children who have the potential to become the future of their communities and their country. Yet many of them are unable to access education simply because they were born in remote mountain villages, into families with limited resources, and in places where schools are scarce or difficult to reach.

We believe that a child’s future should never be determined by where they are born or by their family’s circumstances. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, to grow, and to reach their full potential.

We also recognize that challenges like these cannot be solved by one person alone. Through Metal Drum Coffee, we hope to play a small part by connecting those who have opportunities with those who are still waiting for one. By sharing the stories of underprivileged children, we hope to inspire people to offer support according to their own ability and willingness. We are committed to reporting back to our supporters with transparency through the communication channels we maintain.

Why “Metal Drum”?

The name “Metal Drum” comes from the ancient bronze drum, a traditional instrument once used to announce important news, signal times of war, and mark significant ceremonies within communities.

We chose this name because we believe the drum can continue to serve its original purpose in a new way—not by carrying sound across the mountains, but by carrying stories. It has become a symbol of sharing the voices of people who are still waiting for opportunities, and connecting them with those who are willing to extend a helping hand.

We believe that our knowledge, skills, time, and even the things we no longer need can become something of great value when placed in the hands of someone who truly needs them. Small acts of generosity can create lasting change in another person’s life.

Our Hope

We hope that one day, the coffee farms we cultivate together with local communities will do more than produce exceptional coffee. We hope they will help restore forests and ecosystems that have been lost, create sustainable livelihoods, and provide educational opportunities for children living in the highlands.

To us, every cup of coffee is more than a beverage. It is the beginning of caring for people, communities, and nature—growing together toward a more sustainable future.

พันธกิจของเรา

จุดเริ่มต้นของกาแฟมโหระทึก ไม่ได้เริ่มต้นจากความต้องการสร้างธุรกิจกาแฟเพียงอย่างเดียว แต่เริ่มต้นจากโอกาสที่เราได้เดินทางไปเยี่ยมเยือนชุมชนบนพื้นที่สูงทางภาคเหนือของประเทศไทย

ที่นั่น เราได้เห็นวิถีชีวิตของผู้คน และได้พบกับเด็ก ๆ มากมาย ผู้ซึ่งจะเติบโตขึ้นเป็นกำลังสำคัญของสังคมในวันข้างหน้า แต่เด็กหลายคนกลับไม่มีโอกาสได้รับการศึกษาเช่นเดียวกับเด็กทั่วไป เพราะพวกเขาเกิดมาในพื้นที่ห่างไกล ท่ามกลางหุบเขาและยอดดอย ในครอบครัวที่ยากจน และในชุมชนที่ยังขาดโรงเรียนหรือการเข้าถึงการศึกษาที่เพียงพอ

เราเชื่อว่า สถานที่เกิดหรือฐานะของครอบครัว ไม่ควรเป็นสิ่งกำหนดอนาคตของเด็กคนหนึ่ง เด็กทุกคนควรมีสิทธิ์ได้รับการศึกษา และมีโอกาสพัฒนาศักยภาพของตนเองอย่างเต็มที่

เราเข้าใจดีว่า ปัญหาเหล่านี้ใหญ่เกินกว่าที่คนเพียงคนเดียวจะแก้ไขได้ กาแฟมโหระทึกจึงขอเป็นอีกแรงเล็ก ๆ ที่ทำหน้าที่เชื่อมโยงผู้ที่มีโอกาส กับผู้ที่กำลังรอโอกาส ผ่านการแบ่งปันเรื่องราว และข้อมูลของเด็กด้อยโอกาส เพื่อให้ผู้ที่ต้องการช่วยเหลือสามารถมีส่วนร่วมได้ตามกำลังและความสมัครใจ พร้อมทั้งรายงานผลการช่วยเหลือกลับไปยังผู้สนับสนุนผ่านช่องทางสื่อของเราอย่างโปร่งใส

ทำไมจึงชื่อ “มโหระทึก”

“มโหระทึก” คือเครื่องตีโลหะสำริดโบราณในตระกูลฆ้อง ซึ่งในอดีตใช้ประกาศข่าวสาร ส่งสัญญาณในยามศึกสงคราม และในพิธีสำคัญของชุมชน

เราเลือกชื่อนี้ เพราะเชื่อว่า “มโหระทึก” ยังสามารถทำหน้าที่เดิมได้ แม้จะอยู่ในอีกรูปแบบหนึ่ง คือการเป็นสื่อกลางในการบอกเล่าเรื่องราวของผู้คนที่ยังต้องการโอกาส และส่งต่อข่าวสารจากผู้ที่กำลังรอความช่วยเหลือ ไปยังผู้ที่พร้อมจะยื่นมือเข้ามาแบ่งปัน

เราเชื่อว่า ความรู้ ความสามารถ เวลา หรือแม้แต่สิ่งของที่เราอาจมองว่าไม่มีคุณค่าแล้ว หากส่งต่อไปยังผู้ที่กำลังต้องการ สิ่งเหล่านั้นอาจกลายเป็นคุณค่าที่ยิ่งใหญ่ และสามารถเปลี่ยนแปลงชีวิตของใครบางคนได้

ความหวังของเรา

เราหวังว่าสักวันหนึ่ง ไร่กาแฟที่เราสร้างร่วมกับชุมชน จะไม่เพียงผลิตกาแฟคุณภาพดีเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการฟื้นฟูผืนป่าและระบบนิเวศที่เคยสูญเสียไป พร้อมทั้งสร้างอาชีพที่มั่นคง และเปิดโอกาสทางการศึกษาให้กับเด็ก ๆ บนพื้นที่สูง

สำหรับเรา กาแฟหนึ่งแก้วจึงไม่ใช่เพียงเครื่องดื่ม แต่เป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของการดูแลผู้คน ชุมชน และธรรมชาติ ให้เติบโตไปด้วยกันอย่างยั่งยืน
