Actually, Jocelyn Martin, the Alaska team leader, told us that her team could be with us for five days.\u00a0 But the children from Coffee Hostel (Omkoi) who traveled with us needed to return to their village sooner because their teachers would visit their villages during this short holiday. So our trip this time was very short, but everything we hoped to accomplish was done.\u00a0 Though \u201cTeam Jesus\u201d members came from different places, but coordination was good, as if they had practiced together before.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

At first we planned to depart from Chiangmai at 9 am. to reach Maw Kler Kee at 5 pm, to continue the program with Pastor Taw Soe and the Bible school students. But we didn\u2019t depart from Chiangmai until noon, so we reached Maw Kler Kee at 9 pm. The last baptism there was in November 2010, but that time the people from Maw Kler Kee were prevented from being baptized by the (animist) village elder. Intern students from Christos Bible School had been helping us for six weeks. Pi Si (right hand) is one of two students that we support to study in Bible school for mission in these areas. Now she is a second-year student. Nae Bu is a Bible school student that Christos Bible school sent as a companion for Pi Si. Both of them taught hygiene to the hostel children, taught Bible to children and other people who were interested, taught Karen language to villagers who wanted to learn more of their native language, and helped the hostel parent as needed.This day both of them said goodbye to Maw Kler Kee Hostel to go back to continue their study. After the Sunday service we went to the pond which had been dug in front of the hostel for the baptisms. There was no ordained Karen pastor because no Karen Reverend we had contacted was available on this date because of their own busy schedules on this date. We then invited ordained Pastor Terry Martin and ordained Pastor Matt Fetters to do this baptism. Lunch was at Omkoi Hostel, where we killed three pigs we fed. After lunch we had a childrens\u2019 parents meeting. We invited Terry, Matt and Tom to give advice. As usual we told childrens\u2019 parents that we want all children who stay with us to graduate with honor. This meeting we let childrens\u2019 parents know that we won\u2019t allow children go home by themselves and we won\u2019t allow children go working to earn out side. \u00a0The risk to the children of accident or being misled is too great and we want to protect them.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

We took a picture with the children\u2019s parents.\u00a0 (Sorry we did not review the banner before. Actually, we wrote Hostel but the banner shop wrote \u201cHotel.\u201d)\u00a0\u00a0 From the time this hostel was started the visitors, relatives or villagers from the mountains had no place to sleep until taking a truck(taxi) back to their village; now they all overnight at Omkoi coffee hostel.\u00a0 So far we have welcomed at least 300 brothers and sisters like this for lodging. So even though the spelling on the banner is wrong, practically this hostel serves villagers from the mountains like a hotel.\u00a0 But we make no charge, and often provide food as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n
