Ms. Kate from AAI (Asian Alliance International) informed us that there were friends from America who wished to visit Coffee Hostel Omkoi, and would do activities with as many as seventy teenagers in Omkoi town.\u00a0 Our coffee Hostel has only thirty teens so we invited others to make that number. We coordinated location with Omkoi Community School, with very helpful assistance from Ms. Lin (teacher), to request permission of Mr. Tawin Sawan, the Director of Omkoi Community School. We had full activities on July 3, 2010. We were given permission to use a conference room, football grounds, toilets and classrooms.\u00a0 Director Tawin volunteered his time to come and care for orderliness during the afternoon. Ms. Kate also informed us that Rev. Hugh from New Hope Church would come with the team from America, so if anyone wanted to receive baptism he could do it.\u00a0 But we are the children of Baptist Christians, and we thought it would be better to invite a Baptist, Rev. Tin Oo, from Chiangmai Karen Fellowship for this baptism ceremony, and he also invited Rev. For children in both of our Coffee Hostels, we try to provide a truly Christian hostel environment. We have devotions at 5:30 AM and at 7 PM, and Sunday service at 10 AM.\u00a0 We don\u2019t prefer restrictive rules, but they may be necessary until the children gain positive attitudes. The children here experience the infinite love of God in their everyday lives. Because they have the dormitory while they are attending the school here, meals, school supplies, and various medicines, all come from the love of God. God inspires those who are near and those who are on the other side of the world. If not for God, we could not have a network like this.\u00a0 If not for the love of God people from another hemisphere would not spend so much for travel, invest their valuable time, or endure the hardships of long travel just to come to the children in this remote area, or send help to give these children the opportunity to study,\u00a0 receive care from hostel parents, and have friends from many places come to visit. Before going back to Chiangmai we knew that Surasit, one of the students in our hostel who intended to get baptized, was very sick.\u00a0 He was treated at Omkoi Hospital for many days, but the symptom did not improve. At that time dengue fever was epidemic. We noticed that Surasit was losing weight; he could not eat as much as he should be eating. We brought him back with us to Chiangmai in the evening, together with Surachart another boy from our hostel. The next morning Surasit was quite dizzy so we took him to a private hospital in Chiangmai.\u00a0 Experiences with emergencies like this have taught us that we should not go to a government hospital. Because the procedure of government\u00a0 hospital might be too late for him.\u00a0 We have had the experience of choosing the wrong hospital, and patient died before treatment was started.\u00a0 We decided to take him to a private hospital that has always been reliable, even though the cost is high.\u00a0 Lanna Hospital told us that his heartbeat was very weak and that he might be in shock. They treated him immediately, and after a detailed examination we were told that Surasit\u2019s heart was inflamed.\u00a0 After diagnosis and treatment until he was improved, we moved him to a lower-cost hospital. Thank God, finally Surasit is healed. We thank Mr. Friedhelm Metzger for allowing us to shift money he had given us for a coffee mill in order to rescue Surasit\u2019s life.<\/span><\/span><\/td>\n<\/td>\n\n
