This year is the second year of ministry at Coffee Hostel – Omkoi. \u00a0We are so glad to be able to minister in this way, but we have learned that some of our children were rather undisciplined, and their behavior adversely influenced other children, making it more difficult for us to care for all of the children.\u00a0 We\u00a0 have determined that the hostel can not manage this problem alone; we need the cooperation of the children’s parents. \u00a0We know that it is important for the children in this hostel to learn proper behavior and to mature personally as well as in education.\u00a0 So we pointed out that to accomplish this the parents must also guide their children, even while they are with us in the hostel.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/td>\n<\/td>\n\n

Rev. Tin Oo also spoke at our meeting.\u00a0 He is a doctoral candidate from Chiangmai Karen Fellowship who has consistently helped our mission. \u00a0He has always responded to our requests for assistance\u00a0 when ever he was available, and has been a great blessing to the ministry.\u00a0 He encouraged us by telling a parable of a cooking pot set upon three stones over the fire. \u00a0If we miss one of three stones, or they are not level, we cannot cook successfully. \u00a0To be successful in hostel ministry there must be cooperation of three relevant parties:\u00a0 1) the children, 2) the parents, 3) the hostel staff. \u00a0The parents\u2019 meeting was then closed with prayer and a benediction.<\/span><\/span><\/td>\n<\/td>\n\n

We asked children’s parents to assist in repairs needed for both our hostel building and bathroom. One of the two toilets had to be moved from its original place to make room on the site for a new building which is planned for immediate construction. By now (7 May 2010) we discovered that the person who had promised to provide for a new building, with removal of the old building and moving of our toilet, and who had instructed us to hire an architect to draw building plans so we could build immediately, had \u201cdisappeared.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

After the parents\u2019 meeting in Omkoi we traveled to Maw Kler Kee Hostel in Mae Oo Su, Ta Song Yang, Tak. We traveled almost five hours to get there for the dedication of our Coffee Hostel (Maw Kler Kee). \u00a0This hostel is a wood structure which we started to build through the help of Helping Hand Project, Mrs. Lynn Krenn, Milwaukee, USA, with a starting budget 96,400 Baht. \u00a0This year children from other villages have come to stay, so there are now thirty-three children.\u00a0 This hostel is possible only because of the introduction of our friend, Miss Chutima (Chu), and through support money from many friends (See Detail Account). Also, the land which was formerly a cemetery,\u00a0 was\u00a0 donation from villagers.

During rainy season our solar cell does not provide all of the electricity needed at Maw Kler Kee. \u00a0We hope to install a hydro generator in the future, and we have already made the necessary water course for this purpose.\u00a0 If we can produce enough electric power we hope to have a rice mill. \u00a0Milling the rice here would save the cost of transportation, and in rainy season it is sometimes impossible to travel for that purpose, so we can solve another problem as well. \u00a0We also plan to build two water tanks for irrigating vegetables in the hostel compound for growing food for the children.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

We brought three Rain Trees with us to grow as a sample to villagers, to show them that we can plant coffee plants under the shade as a source of income and <\/span><\/span>as a symbol that Seedlings of the mission\u00a0 have\u00a0 already started here<\/span><\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>A Rain Tree can live more than one hundred years. \u00a0We had a very good opportunity today because we have with us Senior Evangelist Thra Wright Dee,\u00a0\u00a0 Elder Kuh La Pah <\/span><\/span>(first Christian in this area), <\/span><\/span>and Rev. Tin Oo, (Chiangmai Karen Fellowship). We asked these senior persons to plant the Rain Trees at\u00a0 our Coffee Hostel (Maw Kler Kee) on the day of the dedication ceremony day.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n
