During the trip, we briefly informed them about the start of our project, Metal Drum Coffee.\u00a0 Original concept was to help generate additional family income among the villagers and to conserve the surrounded forests which has been extensively exploited.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

4 years ago, as we were out for community service with the mobile clinic, we discovered many of villagers suffered from numbness at tip of finger or at hands or legs. We had acknowledged that they have been using insecticides in the tomato plantation for years. Although they had derived fluctuated income from tomato, but they had to face with sickness and medical expenses in some years later. Even there will be numbers of doctors and nurses, but still they will never be enough to cover all cases. For the health, nothing will be better than prevention. We also knew that the doctors\u2019 team deeply wanted to provide knowledge to the villagers in self healthcare as well.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

In 2009 our awareness are raised by information given by children who want to pursue further in their education regards of limitation of the school. Some of the student apprised that the parents try to pushed the teenagers to get married after they finished their 6th grade, means they will become a young parent at average of age 13 or 14.This facts truly hurts us because after completed grade 6. when compare with age he or she still can not take care of themselves or not yet able to make any proper decision We used to ask the parents why they do not want their children to continue studying for secondary school. Some of them complained that they scared to allow their children to study in the town, because it may be risky for them to become deteriorated. We were trying to figure out and find ways for these children to study in higher level, bring in better quality of life. Primarily, we asked our coffee growing members, whom we trusted and able to rely on, to fill in this role to look after the children who to study in town including guiding them on morality and
